History
The Serenata Chamber Orchestra was started by Dick Schwen in 1996 as an extracurricular music program for the Eagle School District. Originally called the Eagle Chamber Orchestra, our aim was to provide an orchestra program to children who did not have access to it in the schools.
Over time, parents and adult community members joined, and today the orchestra has evolved into mainly an adult organization. In 2012, we changed our name to Serenata Chamber Orchestra. Conductors have included Dick Schwen, Peter Covino, Mark Owen, Shirley Madsen, Lea King, Diane Mathie, and Jen Drake is our current conductor.
We enjoy performing free concerts for the public. In addition to our concerts, we have also enjoyed playing for events and organizations around the valley, such as Eagle Days, Eagle Saturday Market, Meridian City, Ada Community Library, King of Glory Lutheran Church, and the Boy Scouts of America.
Today
Our mission is to inspire a lifelong passion for music, enrich the lives of our musicians and audience, and engage the people of the Treasure Valley by performing free concerts that are innovative, fun, and family friendly.
The Serenata Chamber Orchestra is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We gladly welcome tax-deductible monetary donations and in-kind donations of items needed.
